The lives of many believers rarely escape the tight orbits that circle around their own schedules, their own interests. The familiar gravity of familiar places. But the trajectory of our faith should be one that’s continually cycling outward, fueled by a mission and message that God first brought within reach of us . . . so that we can now join with Him in taking it within reach of others.

Authors Daniel L. Akin and Bruce Riley Ashford are calling today’s church members to lives of going—whether going around the world or to people right where they live—going out with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Between the two of them, Akin and Ashford have trained thousands of men and women in both the mandates and methods for going to every nation. Now they have created a resource for individuals and churches to use together in calling even more to go.

______________

I Am Going by Daniel L. Akin and Bruce Riley Ashford is much more than a book. It's a challenge, an initiative, and a movement. In it, the authors explain how each and every one of us is called to go on mission with the gospel. The authors do not suggest that we all need to catch the next flight to a third-world nation. Instead, they offer practical opportunities, along with biblical admonitions, for every Christian to "go" for God with our churches, to our neighborhoods, our jobs, and yes, throughout the world. The authors debunk the notion that the Great Commission is solely for missionaries and instead encourage Christians to go to their neighborhood, their co-workers, and unreached people groups with the Good News. As I mentioned, I Am Going is more than just a book; each chapter ends with a call to action, and a pledge for the reader to sign, indicating how they will participate and contribute to the Great Commission on a daily basis, starting today! I would love to see this book and this program be offered in my church and churches everywhere, to start an initiative where EVERYONE in our churches can participate in the command that God places before us in Matthew 28:18-20. Please, please read this book - share it with your church, your pastor, and your friends, and decide where you are going! Terry
